A big week for earnings.
Yahoo!, eBay, Intel, AMD, Citi, . . . it’s a long list of big-time companies that are report ing earnings this week. Some interim notes:
- Yahoo!’s results were unspectacular, but presumably that’s why erstwhile CEO Terry Semel was shown the door in favor of company co-founder Jerry Yang. Robert Scoble, who has oodles of insider connections around Silicon Valley, thinks Yahoo! is turning a corner.
- Intel’s earnings may spell trouble for AMD. We’ll know for sure tomorrow when AMD reports its own numbers.
- The aviation world turned upside-down: Delta ascends, Southwest descends.
- JPMorgan Chase took a hit from bad home-equity loans, but its profits were way up anyway thanks to big fees in investment banking. Rivalry watch: Citigroup reports earnings on Friday.
