Now this should be interesting . . .

Sometimes the world gives a gift to business journalists — like, for example, when the newly independent Chrysler names erstwhile Home Depot CEO/despot (?) Bob Nardelli as its new chief.

Don’t get me wrong: Nardelli put together a world-class record in 30 years at GE, and he knows the manufacturing world inside and out. (In fact, there was plenty of murmuring when Nardelli went to Home Depot in the first place, simply because he had never worked in a retail business.) But, on the other hand, his departure from Home Depot was far from friendly, and his reputation took a huge hit because of his inability to achieve his vision there. So whether he’s right for Chrysler or not, you can expect the level of media discussion about him to be . . . high.

On behalf of all business journalists: Thank you, Chrysler!
