R.I.P., Business 2.0

Well, not quite yet, since it will publish its October issue. But Time Inc. has confirmed that Business 2.0 is not long for this world. This confirms the reports we talked about several weeks ago.

Jeff Jarvis shares some short but apt thoughts on B2.0′s demise. Key excerpt:

Business 2.0 should not have been a product but a community; it could have been the magazine that shows how that’s done. It even had a community on Facebook eager to save it. But, sadly, this magazine was made by a 1.0 company that just didn’t understand how to think like a place instead of a thing.

The dead-tree magazine business has always been full of risks, but the Web 2.0 world makes navigating the terrain even trickier.
