My old pal Troy writes this for the Mercury News:

Will Palm pick up steam?

Palm shareholders Wednesday approved a deal that gives the struggling company a big financial infusion at a time when it is trying to keep up with a slew of new and generally much bigger competitors.

My initial guess of an answer to his question? “No.”

A few years ago, the every move of Palm (and Handspring et al.) made headlines in the high-tech press. These days, the peanut gallery is rightly asking whether there’s even a market there, what with the success of RIM’s Blackberry, Apple’s iPhone, and the top smartphones from Nokia, Samsung, et al.
