Talk about your hard-charging executives!
This is a Hoover’s-specific note to brag about our very own Russell Secker. Besides serving as Hoover’s EVP for Customer Experience, Russell is an elite distance runner who’s been cranking out marathons (and beyond!) for decades.
Right now Russell is halfway through a run so grueling it’s hard for me even to imagine: he’s running from the North Seat to Switzerland as part of the 17-day, 800-mile Deutschlandlauf. (That translates to the simple but devastatingly accurate “Germany Run.”)
Russell is no stranger to big stage races like this, having completed the 2005 Transe Gaule race — which, as the name would imply, involves traversing the country of France. You can see the recap of that race, plus get Russell’s daily updates from Germany, at his running blog.
By the way, the title of this post is intentionally ironic: Russell is a solid-gold executive with a distinguished resume, but he’s also one of the kindest, most soft-spoken people you’ll ever meet. How he maintains that demeanor while also racking up business success and conquering mind-boggling physical challenges, I still don’t know.
Good luck, Russell!
