What boundaries are you crossing today?

Some boundaries should be left well enough alone. Springing to mind:
- The boundary flanked by the DMZ in Korea.
- The boundaries laid out in the training your HR department gave everybody about sexual harrassment.
- Any boundary the crossing of which would lead the SEC to prosecute you.
We could think of others.
But there are many boundaries that deserve crossing. The fact that they exist — or that we think they exist — doesn’t mean that they’re sacrosanct. Just think of the social and scientific and cultural boundaries we used to put up with.
- Black people can’t marry white people, ever.
- You can’t fly faster than the speed of sound.
- If a man tried to run a mile in under 4:00, it would kill him.
Again, we could go on.
Good things come to those who explore. It’s not guaranteed, and it might not be fast. But it’s worth the effort.
