No, that’s not an error in the title — I’m asking for your help. In the spirit of my last blog experiment (which drew some interesting responses), I’d like to propose another venture in blog crowdsourcing.
This time, I’d like you to propose business topics to go with each of these three pictures.
First up, a skateboarding pic (CC-Share Alike license) from Daniel Catt:

Next, a turtle from SuperFantastic:

Finally, a great surfing photo (Share Alike license) from rappensuncle:

Please offer your suggested topics for any or all of these pictures in the comments.
Thanks — I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Totally cool idea!
1. Overcoming obstacles with style
2. I’ve heard talk the recession is ending…is that true?
3. How to stay on top when others are going under
Thanks for a great bit of morning brainstorming. Almost better than coffee (almost).
Love the idea! How about:
1. Creative ways to overcome obstacles
2. Business survival skills: Turtles have been on the earth for more than 200 million years!
3. Solopreneurship vs. business partnerships
Soaring above the competition.
Adaptability can take you where speed won’t matter.
Riding a big success without wiping out in the end.
They all seem connected to the creation of new ideas and the decision making process.
1. First, allow your team to think outside of the box with no limitations on ideas.
2. Secondly, limit the amount of time you let your team brainstorm before deciding the appropriate next steps. (contemplation can quickly become analysis paralysis)
3. Knowing the risks, make a courageous action plan and follow through on it.
There should also be a picture for evaluating and course correcting!
The business idea that the images suggest to me:
Providing transport and shelter with minimal lead time for areas that have been flooded. We will no doubt have to deal with more flooding as a result of global warming. Providing quick and adequate shelter for flooded areas could prevent the need for evacuations to faraway locations, as with Katrina. Also a company specializing in transport through flooded areas could do a better job of evacuating people than emergency services, which thankfully often have minimal experience in evacuation. The private sector is more and more taking over such tasks, so it doesn’t seem farfetched to start a business specializing in shelter and transport for flood-stricken areas.
This company could give each flood victim his/her own turtle shell or get them out of danger with the speed and efficiency of a surfer/skater.
I guess my comment was too specific. I realize now you’re seeking more general ideas. It’s there for what it’s worth then.
Thanks for all the great ideas, everybody.
John, your comment was great — you took it in another direction entirely, which gets me thinking even more.
(1) FedEx delivery soars over parcel post- faster wins
(2) Government eyes control over capitalism- the slow and steady march of tyranny over liberty
(3) Riding the wave of renewable energy over smokestack power generation. What happens when the wave crashes?
Steve E — re #3, must the wave crash?
